SCHOOL PROFILE
“Schools should consider good manners just as important as other subjects. If not, how can children grow to be of sound character? Educating is unlike teaching. Most people can be teachers, but the number of educators is extremely limited.”
Sekolah Kesatuan Bangsa, the home to both the Middle and High Schools, was established in 2011 under the auspice of Yayasan Kesatuan Bangsa Mandiri, a foundation founded by the late H. Probosutedjo. He endowed the school with a portion of the estate previously used by Universitas Mercubuana Yogyakarta. Upon transferral, the property was then renovated to accommodate the needs for classrooms, dormitory, administration, kitchen and canteen, as well as school lobby. In 2015, the single-story block located in the north part of the campus was brought down and a new, four-story building was constructed. The new building houses the school kitchen and canteen, cafeteria, classrooms, lecture hall, lobby, and dormitory.
At the beginning, Sekolah Kesatuan Bangsa was a national school using the national curriculum enriched with international contents in Maths and Natural Sciences as well as additional syllabus in English. In 2015, the School became an SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama, school with international element) based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education No. 31/2014. Another milestone was achieved in 2016, when a pilot project to implement digital learning (called “Technology in Classroom”) started. The device used during the piloting included 30 units of Asus Chromebook Flip C100PA. The piloting aimed at proving the viability of the idea to implement the program at full scale in 2017, by eliciting the feedback from both teachers and students. In 2017, Sekolah Kesatuan Bangsa officially launched “Technology in Classroom” Program by using Acer Chromebook CB131 for all new students. At the same time, the School adopted the curriculum provided by Cambridge International Education (now Cambridge Assessment International Education.

OUR EDUCATION FROM ACADEMIC PERSPECTIVE
GLOBAL EDUCATION in NATIONAL CONTEXT
The curriculum applied in Kesatuan Bangsa School is a unique curriculum that accommodates the development of universal education in the national context. The output of our curriculum is students who are ready to face the global challenges, wherever they are, without forgetting the values of nationhood and nationalism. Curriculum development is a continuous process that is to be evaluated with regard to the development of science and technology.
A BETTER FUTURE THROUGH QUALITY EDUCATION
In education, a strong foundation leads to great potential; appropriate education at a young age is so important. Our school curriculum focuses on key growth areas, such as cognitive, social, emotional and personal skills, providing each student individual care in each of these areas in order to promote peak development.
EDUCATION WITH LOVE and TRUST
In order to bring out the innovative, creative, and curious individual in a student, a school’s curriculum should be tailored to the needs of the individual. Through the education at Kesatuan Bangsa, our main focus is to allow our students to pursue their own paths of self-improvement, academia, socializing, physical fitness, and information acquisition, but also be each step of the way as mentors and guides to ensure each student remains on the correct path.
COMBINATION of TEACHERS and NATIONAL CURRICULUM
With a sound basis of national and international curriculum and supported by competent teachers, students are trained to habituate a global attitude, whereby they will be enabled to interact effectively in an international environment.
HIGH TARGETS in EDUCATION
Group activities amongst faculty have become an essential part of the success in our schools. Department meetings not only strengthen educational productivity, but also promote harmony in education in our institution.
OUR CLASSES LIMITED CAPACITY
The student teacher ratio is an important factor for teacher-student interaction in class. One of our missions is to improve the quality of education, and therefore the number of students in our class should be as small as possible. With the number of students at 24 per class, we expect good communication between teachers and students;hence a more conducive learning environment will be accomplished.
SAT Test
The SAT test that measures their analytical abilities in Mathematics and English. This test also becomes one of the requirements to apply to universities in various countries. Students can compare their academic achievement to other students around the world.
TOEFL iBT TEST
Students who have sufficient English proficiency, are required to take the TOEFL iBT test. This test is an international standard test which is very useful for students who continue to pursue higher education.
OUR LANGUAGE POLICY
We implement bilingual education in the learning process. Science subjects, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, are taught in English and supported by books in the same language. The non-science subjects are taught in Indonesian which is supported by the books in the same language as well.
INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM
The standard of English education in our school is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Under this intense criteria, our students focus on improving four main skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Furthermore, our native English teachers help reinforce good habits during our students’ language acquisition.
INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ENGLISH TESTS
By using the CEFR, the standard English proficiency of our students is tested via Cambridge testing each year. This test is very important to measure the progress of students’ language through the internationally recognized standards. In accordance with the levels of each year students will take the test, KET (Key English Test), PET (Preliminary English Test) or FCE (First Certificate of English).
EXPLOITING TECHNOLOGY in EDUCATION
Educational methodology must constantly improve in order to remain relevant. Living in the information age, classical methods of teaching have become less and less viable, and a need for more effective, active and engaging methods has become necessary. At Kesatuan Bangsa, by combining our more contemporary educational methods with modern technology, we have created a more advantageous as well as a more interactive learning environment for our students.
